Japan Expo 2016 – au rapport ! /// Reporting from Japan Expo 2016!

Me voilà de retour mes amis avec les étoiles plein les yeux, après un weekend passé à Japan Expo 17ème impact au Parc des Expositions Villepinte à Paris ! Au programme séparé en deux articles : un compte rendu de ma visite en photos, une réflexion générale sur les conventions et une Minute Marcus à ce sujet… avec Marcus justement ^^ Banzai !

I am back, my dear friends, mesmerized after a weekend at Japan Expo 17ème impact convention in Paris! You are about to read in two separate blog posts: a photo report of my visit, a general reflection about geeky conventions, and regarding the latter an interview with Marcus, a famous AND adorable French journalist and passionate gamer. Banzai!

Je me rends à Japan Expo tous les ans depuis 2011 et à chaque fois, l’expérience est différente. Cela dépend en général des animations auxquelles je participe, des invités que j’ai la chance d’apercevoir de loin voire même de rencontrer, de mon cosplay choisi pour la convention, des personnes avec qui je discute, des achats que je peux faire, de l’ambiance générale du festival… ou encore de la chaleur ressentie dans ces immenses hangars. De plus, cette édition était un peu spéciale pour moi car j’y ai passé une journée toute seule, comme une grande, sans mon Joueur n°2 (ici un immense merci à mes covoitureurs avec qui j’ai passé une journée géniale ^^). Mais que ce soit samedi en amoureux ou dimanche en agent libre, je garde un excellent souvenir du 17ème impact pour plusieurs raisons.

I attend Japan Expo every year since 2011 and each time, the experience is different. Generally it depends on the activities I participate in, special guests whom I have the chance to glance at from afar or even meet in person, the cosplay I choose for the con, the people I talk to, the purchases I make, the general vibe of the event… or even the heat felt in these huge hangars. Moreover, this edition was a bit special to me because for the first time in my life, I spent a day alone at a con like a big girl, without my Player 2 (and here I would like to thank my carpoolers with whom I’ve had a great time ^^). Either regarding Saturday spent with my beloved or Sunday as a free agent, I will keep fond memories of this convention for several reasons.  

• l’ambiance générale était superbe et ce malgré la foule ;
• les cosplayers que j’ai pu croiser se sont donnés à fond et c’était un grand plaisir d’admirer leur travail ;
• j’ai eu de véritables coups de cœur pour les spectacles traditionnels de la scène Sakura, notamment avec la calligraphie, le kabuki ou encore la poésie chantée ;
• l’événement Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 était juste épique avec la présentation du jeu, le producteur Masayuki Hirano en tenue de l’école de Kame Sennin, la finale du air kamehameha et bien sûr de l’opening Cha-La Head-Cha-La chanté en live par Hironobu Kageyama ;
• le concert de Rise of the Northstar a mis le feu sur la scène Karasu – qui aurait cru que le métal avait sa place dans ce festival et que ça pogoterait de partout ?!
• mon cosplay de Julis Alexia van Riessfeld de Gakusen Toshi Asterisk War avait, en tout cas à mes yeux, un rendu convenable, et surtout il est resté en état sur l’ensemble de la convention – mission accomplie ! J’ai eu le plaisir de poser pour quelques photographes très sympathiques et j’attends avec impatience toutes les photos issues de ces shootings.
• Marcus et sa Boulet Team m’ont gentiment accueillie sur leur stand où j’ai passé un moment très agréable. J’ai pu en profiter pour faire une petite interview au sujet des conventions qui paraîtra dans mon prochain article !

• the general vibe was great even though the place was very crowded;
• the cosplayers I have seen put all their energy into their projects and it has been a real pleasure to admire their work;
• I was truly amazed by the traditional culture shows at the Sakura stage, among which calligraphy, kabuki theater and sung poetry;
• the Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 event was just epic with the game presentation, the producer Masayuki Hirano in the Kame Sennin training outfit, the air kamehameha finals and of course the opening Cha-La Head-Cha-La performed live by Hironobu Kageyama;
• the explosive Rise of the Northstar concert rocked the Karasu stage – who would have thought that metal music had its place at this con and that there would be pogo dancing everywhere?! 
• my own cosplay of Julis Alexia van Riessfeld from Gakusen Toshi Asterisk War was, at least in my humble opinion, rather well executed and above all nothing fell off during the whole two days – mission accomplished! I’ve had the pleasure of posing for some very kind photographers and now I just can’t wait to see the final pictures from those photo shoots.
• Marcus and his Goofball Team kindly offered me a spot among them during the convention and I’ve had a great time thanks to those guys. I also jumped on the occasion to make a little interview about conventions in general that will be published in my next blog post!
